College Lake Nature Reserve - Once a chalk quarry, College Lake is now one of the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wildlife Trust's flagship nature reserves. Thanks to the hard work of BBOWT staff and volunteers, this thriving nature reserve now supports more than 1,000 different wildlife species. An eco visitor centre with stunning views of the lakes opened to the public in 2010. 9 mins, 5.4 miles.
Whipsnade Golf Club – set in the peaceful, beautiful countryside of the Chiltern Hills. The mature tree-lined 18 hole, par 73 parkland course is also bordered on two sides by Whipsnade Zoo. Although it is some 500 feet above sea level, the course itself is only gently undulating, making for easy walking. 4 mins, 1.2 miles.
Town Farm – Town Farm is a new campsite with stunning views over the Vale of Aylesbury and Ivinghoe Beacon. Town Farm is a working farm nestled at the foot of the Chiltern Hills and has been run by the Leach family since the early 1930s. 5 mins, 3.3 miles.
We are located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so as you can imagine there are lots of scenic walking and cycling routes around The Red Lion.
